(About The Images)
Collection of Lincoln cents, 1909 through 2011-S, in a Dansco 8100 album. Collection of Lincoln cents, 1909 through 2011-S, in a Dansco 8100 album.
Lot Title: Collection of Lincoln cents, 1909 through 2011-S, in a Dansco 8100 album.
Description: Perhaps a collection like this is not supposed to exist in an era when it seems that many collectors understand only what is printed on a slab. The Lincoln cents as assembled here represent an astounding level of achievement, with the vast majority at or very near the UNC level, including most of the keys and numerous very difficult better dates. The consignor obviously put a remarkable amount of time into locating coins with the finest level of sharpness that his budget and time would allow. To wit, we find that almost all of the branch-mint coins in the teens and twenties feature virtually as much detail as their Philadelphia counterparts.

Even attempting to list every highlight would be space-prohibitive, but at least these coins deserve special mention along with grade ESTIMATES: 1909-S VDB (MS-63 RB), 1909-S (MS-65 BN), 1913-S (MS-63 BN), 1914-D (MS-63 BN, but with some mint red), 1915-D (MS-64 BN), 1915-S (MS-64 BN), 1916-D (MS-63 RB), 1920-D (MS-64 BN), 1920-S (MS-64 BN), 1922 plain (XF/questionable color), and 1931-S (MS-64 RB). Coins dated 1935 and later tend to be red UNC pieces, with many appearing to be worthy of exceptionally high grade consideration, and proof-only issues are included.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
