(About The Images)
Collection of Lincoln cents in two albums, including 1955 DDO and 1972 DDO. Collection of Lincoln cents in two albums, including 1955 DDO and 1972 DDO.
Lot Title: Collection of Lincoln cents in two albums, including 1955 DDO and 1972 DDO.
Description: The Nickel-To-A-Doughnut Collection. A Whitman album displays the first half of an impressive Lincoln cent set, except that the 1922 plain is in an old ANACS VF-25 holder. Unlike a typical set up for bid, this one includes the 1955 DDO (AU-55) and 1972 DDO (MS-64 RD), this latter coin impressively preserved. Most coins subsequent to 1930 or so display blazing red color, and many earlier pieces are also UNC, such as 1909, 1909-VDB, 1911, 1916-D, 1918-S, 1929-S, etc. We recommend a grade for the keys as follows: 1909-S VDB (MS-63 RB), 1909-S (AU), 1914-D (XF-45 but rather heavily marked with tiny contact points on both sides), and 1931-S (MS-63 RB), but as has been alluded, numerous semi-keys are upgrade coins whose cumulative value rises quickly for this amazing achievement.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
