Lot Title:
(Presumed) Gold Rush balance scale, plus bonus.
Description:
Wine And Dine Collection. The consignor suggests that this is a balance scale used during the gold rush, and if that is the case, then it has to be one of the highest coolness-quotient lots in the entire auction. The scale comes with a full complement of brass weights used to assist in the determination of precise measures of gold dust back before the days of assaying gold and the convenience of widely circulating gold coinage. In the spirit of the times, this lot also includes an 1885-O silver dollar in a Paramount slab (MS-63, pleasing tone), and a trio of Aluminum tokens attributed to Bethel, Alaska. In case you are wondering "Why?" ... Think Bethel. Think Alaska. Then think "coolness factor", and the intent becomes clear.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
