Lot Title:
1881 PCGS PF-63+.
Description:
7070 Collection. Remarkable neon-purple toning emanates practically from the entire surface, as if powered by some unseen force, although Liberty's portrait itself bears ivory-beige coloration, as does the eagle. PCGS suggest the PF-63+ level, but hairlines do not seem to be cause for concern. Rather, a small planchet problem above Liberty's left (observed) shoulder seems to be of primary influence. This is a tough coin to find in Mint State. Its fields are highly reflective, and its devices are frosty. A breath of golden toning adorns the peripheries of both the obverse and reverse. |
