(About The Images)
1809 (C-6) NGC MS-61 BN. 1809 (C-6) NGC MS-61 BN.
Lot Title: 1809 (C-6) NGC MS-61 BN.
Description: 7070 Collection. The toast-brown obverse surface exhibits a touch of glossy character, with the extreme peripheral areas ceding to almond-gold color. More evenly toned, the reverse features pleasing mahogany tone with a splash of pecan off to the lower left. Surprisingly sharp for a coin of this vintage at the MS-61 level. (PCGS# 001123)

275The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$1,650.00
1809 Normal Date (C-1, Die State 2, R.5) VF details/as described.
Various sources place rarity of the C-1 for 1809 anywhere between "low R.5" to "high R.5", but without doubt, however many pieces survive, most seen tend to be in fairly low grade, with many showing...
446The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$2,000.00
1809 (C-3). PCGS MS-63BN.
C-3 has been reported as the most common die-marriage in uncirculated grades for the 1809 half-cent, and certainly the R.1 "very common" rating reflects real-world experience. This example presents...
184The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,000.00
1809 Normal Date (C-1, R.5+). VG/reverse planchet flaw.
A normal-date obverse is paired with a reverse with the high leaf left of "S" above to find C-1 as proper attribution. Technically, this last attribution pickup-point can scarcely be confirmed...
185The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$270.00
1809 Normal Date (C-2, R.3). XF.
The date is close to the bust, with "1" a little high, and on the reverse, the high leaf falls just right of "S" above, giving C-2 as the variety. Cleaned at one time, but allowed to retone naturally...
186The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$550.00
1809 Normal Date (C-3, R.1). NGC AU-58 BN.
Attributed as C-3 by NGC, and seemingly die-state II to III, with a faint crack building up between the first three stars. Surfaces display excellent, hard glossy texture and considerable luster,...
187The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$600.00
1809 Normal Date (C-3, R.1). PCGS AU-58.
C-3, the "normal date", and a nice, early die-state responsible for exquisite detail. On top of that, color on the obverse is fantastic, greeting the eye with 80% caramel-smooth copper-brown patina,...
188The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$700.00
1809 Normal Date (C-3, R.1). NGC MS-60 BN.
180 are distant and "09" close for C-3, with "ES" placed perceptibly high on the reverse. Die-state III, with hints in the expanding die cracks of the later IV . Celebrate the moment as a grading...
190The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$725.00
1809 Normal Date (C-6, R.1). PCGS AU-58.
Arrangement of the numerals in the date -- on an arc, but not a circular arc -- diagnoses C-6, and this is die-state II, with a faint crack above STATE. Dies are rotated about 150 degrees (near...
184The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$1,400.00
1809 Normal Date (C-3). PCGS MS-63 BN.
Cartwheel luster energizes the deep, original brown patina, and the strike is sharper in the central areas than at the edges. Indeed, the upper right obverse rim is a trifle weak, showing no...
