(About The Images)
1840 NGC AU-53. 1840 NGC AU-53.
Lot Title: 1840 NGC AU-53.
Description: Natural Classic's Collection. Seven points of wear has not been able to overcome the noticeable overall sharpness, with stars still showing strong peaks around the obverse. Although draped in generally monotone ebony-grey patina, a few tinges of ivory-pearl touch the upper right details of Liberty's portrait, and similar tone accents the whole eagle, imparting an interesting cameo effect to the reverse. (PCGS# 006926)

1840 PCGS Genuine (XF details/obverse scratch/code 98).
Classic Mustang Collection, Mintage: 61,005. PCGS chose to administer Code-98, but the metal movement seems to be in reference to a brief scratch on Liberty's head. Overall, this coin certainly...
490The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$525.00
1840 AU/polished.
It is likely this 1840 dollar was at least semi-prooflike when struck, but it has been subsequently lightly polished, resulting in too pale an appearance to be ideal. Seated dollars of the 1840s...
737The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$1,550.00
1840 PCGS AU-58.
An example from the first year commencing this series of dollars. Brilliant reflective surfaces with an enhancing golden iridescence and a hint of blue on the Eagle's feathers. Only a trace of wear...
