(About The Images)
1887 NGC PF-66. 1887 NGC PF-66.
Lot Title: 1887 NGC PF-66.
Description: The Nickel-To-A-Doughnut Collection. Sizzling silver-bronze luster absolutely scorches the fields and places strong illumination upon the extremely well defined motifs, aided by noticeable mint frost on the major devices. The sparkling effect is simply mesmerizing, blazing with eye-appeal as the coin is tilted under a lamp. A dainty touch of citrus-gold patina plays over both sides but does not in any way interfere with the underlying luster, and one can plainly see why NGC invoked a very-gem proof grade for this beauty. (PCGS# 003885)

256The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$300.00
1887 PCGS MS-64.
Berry Tree Collection. A very good strike promoted lovely delineation of the strands in Liberty's hair, and crystal-hard luster spans rapidly through clean, unblemished fields. Subtle...
349The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$390.00
1887 PCGS MS-64 CAC.
1887 could not be called a key to the Liberty nickel series, but how often do you actually see them in MS-64? This example seems to be the real deal, with rapidly revolving cartwheel effect and some...
373The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$270.00
1887 NGC MS-64.
Preservation, luster and original quality suggest a better grade than MS-64, but a couple of shallow planchet flaws on Liberty's lower neck may have been impetus for a more conservative approach. ...
257The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$525.00
1887 NGC PF-65 Cameo.
A delightful jewel that provides pristine and very nearly pure white eye appeal for the connoisseur of early proof coinage. There is no questioning the "cameo" designation, though technical...
348The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$550.00
1887 ANACS PF-65.
This specimen's mirrored fields and frosty details are enhanced by delicate rose and blue iridescent nuances. A meager number of speckles are perceived behind Liberty's head.
407The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$450.00
1887 MS-64++.
Perhaps we should have picked up the gauntlet and simply graded this coin MS-65. Its fields are clean and sparkling with luster, while the devices are prominently struck. Light woodgrain toning is...
408The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$550.00
1887 ANACS PF-65.
Frosty devices and problem-free fields give this Liberty Nickel an attractive look that is sure to please any collector. A bit of woodgrain toning is seen on both the obverse and reverse.
453The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$320.00
1887 SEGS PF-66.
Bands of light russet toning can be observed on the obverse and reverse. The fields are highly reflective and free of distractions. The devices are milky white and superbly struck. The coin is well...
