(About The Images)
1851-O NGC MS-62. 1851-O NGC MS-62.
Lot Title: 1851-O NGC MS-62.
Description: For a New Orleans issue, Liberty's hair displays rather intricate details, with isolated flat spots due only to striking weakness (and not wear). All by itself, the obverse seems to grade at least a point higher than the assigned MS-62, but a handful of faint hairlines crisscross over the reverse and almost certainly dictate the grade level. (PCGS# 007516)
Low Estimate: $800.00
High Estimate: $900.00

1034The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$675.00
1851-O NGC MS-61.
Bright and a little prettier than MS-61 might imply, the small surface area still manages to project considerable lustrous appeal. Nicely struck for a New Orleans coin, with particularly sharp stars.
758The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$500.00
1851-O PCGS MS-61.
Attractive orange-gold color and with a solid luster presence. A scratch that extends from Liberty's chin to the rim would seem to be the likely reason this coin wasn't awarded a grade of MS-63...
910The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$950.00
1851-O PCGS MS-62.
1851-O is very popular with type collectors, and there are many examples that were inconsistently struck, as some show weakness at the center of the reverse. From that standpoint, this is definitely...
871The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$825.00
1851-O NGC MS-61.
The New Orleans mint mark on this issue always seems oversized, and even Breen describes the issue as a "large O". Rather well abraded, as befits the grade, but unquestionably a tougher Type 1 coin.
805The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$575.00
1851-O gold dollar, MS-60, cleaned
Many bidders may be willing to overlook the myriad hazy hairlines across the obverse. Rather bluntly struck, as is typical of the New Orleans issue, and still retains nearly all the original mint...
914The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$925.00
1851-O NGC MS-62.
This popular New Orleans Type I gold dollar has a phenomenal yellow-gold vibrancy. The design motifs are quite prominent for a New Orleans issue, but a few incidental marks account for the grade.
269The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$1,050.00
1851-O NGC MS-62.
This is a nice gold piece that has an appealing antique look around some parts of the devices of both the obverse and reverse. It has a ton of luster and is fully struck. You just do not see New...
333The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$1,100.00
1851-O NGC MS-62.
This southern branch mint issue exhibits brilliant and lustrous yellow-gold surfaces augmented with honey highlights. Some scattered light hairlines are observed with a glass. It is sharply struck...
