(About The Images)
1870 NGC PF-64 RB. 1870 NGC PF-64 RB.
Lot Title: 1870 NGC PF-64 RB.
Description: French Connection Estate. Among the earlier proof coins that came into the possession of our consignor's great-grandfather, this 1870 proof 2-cent may have been one of the favorites at it has retained remarkably attractive, original preservation over the course of 143 years. The original blazing mint red has been permitted to mellow naturally, even if that has meant the introduction of scattered splashes of brown patina that create an interesting crackled appearance. Time has scarcely eroded the reflectivity in the fields, and certainly the coin boasts all of its glorious sharpness. (PCGS# 003643)

1870 NGC PF-64 RB.
French Connection Estate. A RD designation might not seem out of place, as the surfaces mostly exhibit flaming original bronze-gold toning, with darker sienna accents splashed over the highpoints. ...
283The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$150.00
1870 PCGS Genuine.
Genuine-94 is intended for "altered surfaces", but the least PCGS could do was not alter the surfaces even further by sticking a beard stubble to the fifth vertical stripe in the shield. "Altered"...
290The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$390.00
1870 PCGS PF-63 BN.
About 20% of the original mint red color remains, though much of what comprises the "brown" area is actually tinted in deep burgundy tones. Minor greenish flakes of what is likely old PVC residue...
237The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$525.00
1870 SEGS PF-66 RB.
First off, I will start by saying that this coin is more suited to be in an PF-64 holder. Don't get me wrong, it is very attractive and has no major distractions -- and I love the folks at SEGS --...
288The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$425.00
1870 MS-65 RB.
The splendid surfaces display a red-orange aspect on the obverse, with a deeper purple splash in the central reverse area. A few speckles are seen here and there on this significantly struck example.
