Lot Title:
1905 PCGS PF-65+.
Description:
It has occasionally been suggested by onlookers that PCGS may award a "plus" for coins that provide particularly strong aesthetic appeal for a given technical grade, and hands-down, the eye-appeal for this 1905 dime zooms immediately off the technical charts, well exceeding mere gem status. Particularly vivid, saturated cobalt toning mixes with a gorgeous amalgamation of sea-green and chartreuse-gold that seems to have been created by lengthy residence in an old album. Looking "through the color", the obverse appears to possess nice cameo contrast, though the reverse shows mostly brilliant character. (PCGS# 004889)

Though not particularly hairlined, this dime lacks the vibrancy expected of proof Barber coinage, and the dull mirrors suggest a prolonged dip. One minute abrasion can be seen near the top of... |
