Lot Title:
1793 Liberty Cap. Fine.
Description:
All right copper guys, here is a rare coin for which to compete. This type absolutely never comes nice, and the coin now offered is as nice as we have offered to date. The surfaces, although showing some corrosion, are far superior to those usually brought to market. The detail grade is high in the VF range -- with strong eye, lip, and plump berry definition. The date is full, and Liberty is clear and distinct. Missing from all but the most advanced type sets, this coin should see some serious bidder activity.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1793 Liberty Cap (S-13, R.4) PCGS VG-8.

Only six die-marriages represent the 1793 Liberty cap cent, with Sheldon-13 the most available, although no '93 Lib-Cap could ever be considered "common". Is there any such thing as a "perfect" one? ... |
