Lot Title:
1848 (N-32, R.6-) PCGS VF-35.
Description:
N-32, R.6-. A very low condition census only mentions a couple of coins in the Grellman book, and an EAC grade might place this one at the VG-10 level. Strong VF sharpness will make that seem like a conservative assessment, but the planchet exhibits extremely fine, powdery roughness with an almost matte appearance. This example shows the complete die-crack from right of the second "S" in STATES, crossing diagonally over the wreath and all the way down to "RI". (PCGS# 001883)

On the scale of eye-appeal, this cent surely rates a ten-out-of-ten rating! Surfaces are pristine, and the strike borders on being full with just a tad of weakness a the top of the coronet. More... |
