(About The Images)
High grade set of Peace dollars in Capital Plastics holder. High grade set of Peace dollars in Capital Plastics holder.
Lot Title: High grade set of Peace dollars in Capital Plastics holder.
Description: The advent of third-party grading has led to the demise of most high-grade collecting in albums and the like, but once in a while, an amazing vintage collection reaches the market. Here is one of the finest complete sets of Peace dollars ever to cross the Scotsman auction block intact. Housed in a large Capital Plastics holder, this is an amazingly convenient way to display a collection with so much stunning visual appeal. Aside from some NGC multi-coin slabs, it is simply impossible for a collection of individually encapsulated coins to have anywhere near the overwhelming visual impact that a single massive presentation like this offers. These are amazingly nice dollars, consistently bright, lustrous and gleaming with enormous eye-appeal. Bidders must make their own personal evaluation, but suffice it to say that at first glance, no coin in the collection looks like it should grade below MS-63. As is virtually always the case, closer inspection reveals that 1934-S is likely a slider, although it has the silvery white presence and luster of an UNC, but no other coin seems to be even close to AU status. 1927-S shows a tinge of toning along the lower left rim, but aside from that, these are entirely blast white coins with no noticeable coloration. Aside from suspicions over the true technical grade for 1934-S, all the other key and semi-key dates look very strong.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
