Lot Title:

1870 $5.00. San Francisco, CA Charter# 1741 PCGS VF-20 (apparent small edge repairs).
|
Description:
|
The First National Gold Bank of San Francisco, California. We believe this to be a brand new note to the census, and feel confident that it has never been certified before. PCGS assigned a grade of "apparent VF-20" with a disclaimer: "small edge repairs". Looking through notes sold in past auctions, this is not an uncommon situation, and apparently, only some minor separations at the creases have been skillfully strengthened. In no way at all is the eye-appeal of the note affected. Both signatures display beautifully with light fading, while the overall color remains decent for a note with this much wear.

FR-1138. Obviously very well worn, this important National Gold Bank of Sacramento, California $5 gold bank note is extremely popular due to the "pile of gold coins" depicted on the back. Huge... |
