Lot Title:
Eight Seated Liberty half-dimes.
Description:
Much tougher issues in the half-dime emission sequence make this a desirable group for the aficionado of this challenging series. Every coin but one (1867-S) has a strong LIBERTY on the shield, offering excellent upgrade opportunity to the savvy collector. Included are: 1837 "no stars" (VF, but a couple of well hidden hairline scratches in the obverse left field), 1840 (XF, with surprisingly nice luster), 1850 (XF-45, and the consignor states this was removed from an NGC slab at the same grade), 1851 (XF, strong luster but a single unobtrusive pinscratch on the obverse), 1853 "no arrows" (F, with pleasant tone), 1854 (AU, nice original), 1862 (XF, with slight luster), and 1867-S (VF overall, but "I" in LIBERTY is just barely there, and there is an unimportant stain in the obverse right field). Some very, very tough material here in this eight coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
