Lot Title:
1849-O XF, and an 1867-S XF.
Description:
Both coins grade EF or so, certainly in terms of details. The consignor states that 1849-O was removed from a PCGS holder at the XF-40 grade, and the coin certainly has all the elements of premier quality, including slight prooflike reflectivity protected within the stars and attractive orange-gold and sky-blue toning. Deeper cobalt-grey toning drapes the outer areas of the 1867-S, vacating central details, which are silvery grey. The details here are a bit stronger than for its companion, and neither coin has any noticeable issues whatsoever. Ideal album candidates in this two coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
