Lot Title:
Twenty-two Seated Liberty half-dimes.
Description:
By far, most of these have a full LIBERTY, although 1838 doesn't show the "E", and a couple or so of the others may not quite display every letter clearly. Still, knowing that many issues in the series can still be graded "fine" or better without all seven letters due to striking weakness implies that as a group, the coins easily average F/VF. Dates with light commentary are offered as follows: 1838 (wonderful original), 1839-O (reverse corrosion), 1841, 1841-O, 1842, 1847, 1849 (possibly 1849/8 as there is definitely something recut beneath the "9"), 1852, 1853, 1853-O (scratch on reverse, bent?), 1855 (attractive album toning), 1856, 1857, 1858 (gorgeous original), 1859, 1860, 1868 (rim crimped at 5:00), 1869, 1869-S, 1870, 1871, and 1872. Fill a bunch of holes with one fell swoop by picking up on this twenty-two coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
