(About The Images)
1854-O Arrows, Huge O. PCGS GD-6. 1854-O Arrows, Huge O. PCGS GD-6.
Lot Title: 1854-O Arrows, Huge O. PCGS GD-6.
Description: Popular for the grotesque mintmark, which many believe to have been manually engraved into the working die at New Orleans. The obverse features strong detail for the G-6 grade, including part or all of IBERT visible on the shield, but to the credit of PCGS, the three letters in "BER" are technically not complete, hence the astute grade assessment. On the all-important reverse, the rim just barely merges with the field in the lower areas, but nobody will argue that the major details are all there - especially that big, ugly, overgrown "O" beneath the eagle! (PCGS# 005434)
Low Estimate: $900.00
High Estimate: $1,100.00

1854-O "huge O". ICG XF-40 details/cleaned.
The grotesque mintmark is responsible for the "Huge O" appellation given this distinctive variety, believed to be the result of a mint employee carving the letter into the working die by hand. This...

1854-O Arrows, Huge O. PCGS VF-30.
