Lot Title:
1858 NGC MS-65.
Description:
As a type coin, 1858 serves an ideal purpose as a "stars obverse" example, being plenty common and available enough to satisfy collector needs at a reasonable price. Even at the GEM level, a superior coin like this need not cost a mint, yet the appearance is every bit of what one desires, with blazing white luster, a delicate touch of vanilla-tan in the fields, and nice clash marks to add character. The obverse offers intriguing orange-peel effect from a well used die, while the reverse displays fine satiny texture. (PCGS# 004367)
