Lot Title:
1799 (S-189, R-2+) Perfect Date, Close Date. PCGS AG-3.
Description:
Liberty's portrait is flat as can be while still retaining a full silhouette, and LIBERTY and 1799 are legible but worn away adjacent to the rim area. The reverse also is probably as worn as it can possibly be while still retaining slight legibility if the coin is tilted just right, allowing for shadows to place ONE CENT at best viewing advantage. The coin has undoubtedly been burnished with extreme care and skill, providing a bit better smoothness than usual without denying all of the original rough surface character. Nicely recolored, with the reverse showing particularly deep walnut-brown patina. (PCGS# 001443)
