(About The Images)
1859 NGC AU-55. 1859 NGC AU-55.
Lot Title: 1859 NGC AU-55.
Description: 1859 has no special distinction as a better date in the AU grades, thus avoiding any undue premium as a selection for type representation. Plenty of luster plays off the slightly reflective fields, undisturbed by any mentionable contact marks. Indeed, aside from a few trivial hairlines, an AU example could hardly offer nicer surface quality. "1" in the date is nicely recut north. (PCGS# 007979)

1859 PCGS AU-53.
Except in stratospheric grade, 1859 is one of the most common issues in the three-dollar gold series. A nicer AU example like this can serve as the ideal type coin, offering vintage surfaces and a...
450The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,050.00
1859 AU details/edge nick.
An old-time AU-50, the grade reflects suitable reflective luster and light wear. A small rim nick at 1:00 likely will not even be noticed by most bidders, but is mentioned here just to be meticulous....
1072The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$1,400.00
1859 AU.
Natural medium gold surfaces display a little random friction in the fields and only light wear on the high points. Most of the original luster remains, and there is evidence of a nice die clash. ...
1072The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$850.00
1859 XF-45.
A delicate hint of rose bedecks this specimen's golden surfaces. Some light hairlines, and a couple microscopic furrows next to the "F" on the obverse's inscription, are observed. Evidence of a...
