(About The Images)
1797 '97 Rev.- Stems, S-138, R-1. F-12. 1797 '97 Rev.- Stems, S-138, R-1. F-12.
Lot Title: 1797 '97 Rev.- Stems, S-138, R-1. F-12.
Description: The planchet is fairly smooth for the ascribed grade with surfaces having a steel brown aspect. It is the most common 1797 variety with wide obverse rims. A pinched rim defect is detected on the reverse rim at nine o'clock for this handsome late die state.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1797 '97 Rev.- Stems (S-138) F, and an 1814 (S-295) VG.
Somewhat better and earlier large-cents pair up to create a nice little catch for someone, as both coins exhibit highly acceptable surface quality. First is a 1797 S-138 large-cent (F-12), this...

1797 '97 Rev.- Stems (S-140). NGC VF-25 BN.
Rich leather-brown patina shows decent smoothness in the obverse left field, while the right field has signs of modest, shallow roughness. Overall, the reverse favors better surface quality, with no...
274The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$5,000.00
1797 '97 Rev.- Stems. AU BN.
Copper specialists may find this to be quite an exciting coin, as it combines interesting die-state characteristics of two separate Sheldon die-marriages. S-130 has a curved break on the left obverse...
214The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$260.00
1797 S-138 Fine-12.
This cent is far finer than the average circulated specimen. The coin is well struck with full dentils. The color is a nice light brown with some original dirt between the lettering and the dentils....
268The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$825.00
1797 '97 Rev.- Stems, S-127, R-4. VF-30.
This "Peaked Hair Wave" variety displays olive-brown surfaces that have just a trace of granularity. Its devices and legends are overall distinct, however "N" and "T" of "CENT," and the bow and...
