Lot Title:
|
1830 XF details/corroded, 1851 Uncirculated details/pvc, and an 1855 Uncirculated details/questionable color.
|
Description:
|
Unattributed middle and late-date large-cents form this small grouping, all with strong details. 1830 is a little dark but very sharp with XF or better details. The porosity that resulted from mild corrosion is actually not terrible, and the coin is reasonably suited to date or type purposes. 1851 is a sharply defined UNC, but the surfaces are a little dull, perhaps from PVC residue. Finally, 1855 has strong UNC sharpness and bits of mint red, but the greenish patina is a little odd to the eye, especially on the reverse. Three coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

The color is surprisingly convincing and well applied, though the highpoints display some steely blue accents that imply the use of heat to create the copper tone. Spots of verdigris appear right of... |

Ten Coronet Head Large Cents.

Proving that a black sheep appears in many kinds of families, nine of these coins are very decent, while one stands out as being awful - the 1836. The ten coins are enumerated as follows: 1830 VG,... |
