Lot Title:
1916-S NGC MS-64 RB.
Description:
The razor-sharp strike is most unexpected of an early branch-mint Lincoln, with luxuriously defined strands of hair and a completely formed bowtie evident for Lincoln's portrait. The dies really stomped this planchet! Surfaces show about an equal distribution between mint orange and delicate brown toning, leading to an ideal candidate for the "RB" designation. The virtually complete absence of contact marks leads to search for other grade limiting factors, with minor carbon spots and modest luster being likely suspects. (PCGS# 002493)
