Lot Title:
1787 Connecticut, Mailed Bust Left, Laughing Head (M. 6.1-M). PCGS XF-40.
Description:
The die break at "A" in AUCTORI is not fully developed, indicating an earlier die-state for M. 6.1-M, the "laughing head" obverse. This is a richly detailed Connecticut, as expected of the extremely-fine grade level, with the merry head fully outlined and well defined by razor-sharp strands of hair. Lovely oak-brown coloration affects the raised portions of the design, and contrasts ideally with bistre fields. The entire coin is finely centered, indeed, almost ideally so, leading to the presence of nearly all edge dentilation. (PCGS# 000358)
