Lot Title:
1924 PCGS MS-66FH.
Description:
Scarcely a single detail is left wanting from the powerful strike, as Liberty's head displays utterly every possible detail, and the shield has only modest softness on a couple of rivets. The luster is a potent dynamo that stimulates much of the shimmering eye-appeal, augmented by nearly stunning ocean-purple and lavender-green satin colors blanketed across both sides. The PCGS grade of MS-66 (FH) seems unperturbed by a peculiar bright streak down the left quarter of the reverse, made all the more prominent by the fact that the coin is otherwise entirely bathed in deep, rich iridescence. Indeed, the toning makes evaluation of the precise nature of the streak a bit challenging, though it appears to be a long, thin lamination, as opposed to a scrape. Thirty-two 1924 quarters have been graded MS-66 by PCGS, with but 7 higher, and personal inspection is recommended. (PCGS# 005747)

Sensational strike quality goes above and beyond "full head" definition, since the shield exhibits every rivet, although die cracks ensure a lack of some design elements. For example, a brief crack... |
