Lot Title:
1804 (S-226a, R.4) circulated/impaired.
Description:
Ex-Stack's, Rich Uhrich Collection, 2/26/2008: 427. Sharpness approaches Good on the obverse, save for weakness on the bottom of 1804 (though the date remains easily legible), and crisscrossing scratches on the portrait. The reverse is missing too much of the peripheral legend to exceed a Fair grade, and loses additional sharpness to a fairly broad and shallow, but rather grotesque planchet flaw flung across the denomination. That said, the color is astonishingly nice, with lovely, smooth chocolate patina that atones for some of the impairments. (PCGS# 001504)
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
