Lot Title:
1804 (S-266b) Good details/burnished.
Description:
Corrosion has been delicately smoothed by adroit burnishing of both sides, and color restored to an almost-convincing shade of walnut. From the standpoint of wear, LIBERTY and the date are strong and free from the rims (ignoring the die-break, of course), but 1804 was modestly weakened by the burnishing process. STATES OF is slightly blurred on the reverse, in accord with G-6 sharpness. Still, the appearance is more than acceptable for any collector needing a low grade (but not ugly) example (PCGS# 001504)
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
