Lot Title: Virtually complete collection of Lincoln cents 1909 through 1961-D (no 1955 double die or 1961) in Whitman 9405 and 9406 albums.
Description: Uneven quality is the reason that some oddball cleaned coins have ended up in this Lincoln Cent collection, right next to very nice, better coins, but at least everything important is represented (except for 1955 and 1961, strangely enough). 1909-S VDB is a coin with MS-60 details that was once dipped, but which has begun to retone, and displays substantial luster. Additional keys include: 1909-S (F), 1911-S (VG), 1914-D (F, and nice), 1914-S (VG), 1915-S (F+), 1922 "plain", but NOT DIE-PAIR 2 (VG), 1924-D (F+), and 1931-S (MS-60/questionable color). The 1931-S probably is legitimately toned, but grading services are at an all-time level of unpredictability when it comes to copper color. None of these cents really has any serious surface problems, but a number have been cleaned, and for reasons unknown, several have glue residue on them. Without question, the value is in the keys. One hundred forty-eight coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
