(About The Images)
1844-D PCGS F-12. 1844-D PCGS F-12.
Lot Title: 1844-D PCGS F-12.
Description: Limited strike quality is at least partially responsible for the flatness of the obverse, along with plenty of wear from circulation, of course. The reverse is sharper and rather bold for the F-12 grade level. Both sides exhibit delightful, original mustard-gold patina, enhanced with just the right touch of olive-grey around finer design elements. A thin (and unfortunately, recent) pinscratch parallels the top of Liberty's portrait and gropes toward the ninth star. (PCGS# 008221)

1844-D AU details/cleaned/tooled.
Exceptionally sharp details are actually close to mint state for this 1844-D half-eagle, an issue that isn't rare in general, but has limited availability in the AU-50 and better range. The strike is...

1844-D NGC AU-58.
Citrus-gold patina fades just a touch over the devices, augmenting the faint cameo effect offered by the slightly semi-prooflike strike. Each side is peppered with multitudinous tiny contact marks...
1021The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$2,000.00
1844-D AU-55 Details, Cleaned Reverse.
Rather uninspired blonde-gold color is seen on either side of this scarce Dahlonega issue, but only the reverse displays meaningful evidence of a gentle cleaning that has left diagonal hairlines to...
1082The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$1,050.00
1844-D PCGS F-12.
A pleasing low grade Dahlonega, Georgia Branch Mint specimen. The total mintage for this large letters, large mint mark issue is recorded as 88,982. There are no impairments to note on this pleasing...
