Lot Title:
1873-CC Arrows. PCGS MS-61.
Description:
Ex-PCGS 6344.61/18527838. In defiance of the MS-61 grade assigned by PCGS, the reverse is actually fairly attractive, with potent mint luster that lurks beneath a stately layer of pewter-grey tone, relieved here and there by understated bone-white patina. This side is free from major abrasions, and also features a nice die crack creeping upward from the left side of HALF. The obverse has curiously shiny, steel-grey highlights on the most elevated portions of the design elements, dominated otherwise by slate-grey patina that yields to bronze luster outside of the peripheral stars. Under careful scrutiny, the obverse right field is found to have been carefully brushed, with multiple curving hairlines sweeping up and to the right, but these are judiciously toned over. A number of tiny contact marks pepper Liberty's arm and shin. (PCGS# 006344)
