Lot Title:
1855-O PCGS XF-40 (green label).
Description:
Dirty gold enthusiasts absolutely must take a look at the gritty, grungy, grimy appearance of this delightful New Orleans eagle, housed in a PCGS green-label holder. Despite the marvelous patina and stagecoach dust that still adheres to both sides, the underlying luster remains tangible in isolated areas, and confers the grade. The PCGS insert, as usual, gloops and glops over the rim, but evidence of a slight bump at 11:00 and 7:00 can be detected on the obverse rim, and are noted just for accuracy. Without a doubt, this is a fabulous, vintage survivor of mid-19th century commerce. (PCGS# 008617)
