(About The Images)
1909-O PCGS AU-55. 1909-O PCGS AU-55.
Lot Title: 1909-O PCGS AU-55.
Description: 1909-O is one of the two keys to the gold Indian half-eagle series, with lightly circulated examples expensive, and mint-state coins through the roof in terms of value. (In fact, it is THE key at MS-60 and above.) The appearance of this piece is very nearly that of a low-end UNC at first glance, since only slight wear is apparent on either side. The Indian's cheek and jawbone display minor rub, and even the eagle's shoulder is just barely touched with wear. However, along with the usual small ticks expected of any sunken-relief gold, the fields display quite a few additional tiny abrasions associated with circulation. For the collector who enjoys a high-end UNC set, but doesn't want to invest a year's disposable income into a fully uncirculated coin, an AU-55 that is this nice should suit admirably. And it might require only three month's salary, instead of twelve to pay it off. (PCGS# 008515)

1173The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$4,350.00
1909-O PCGS Genuine, AU details/cleaned.
Examination of both sides reveals the glossy texture that caused PCGS to indicate "cleaning", but the 1909-O date confers key-date status upon this AU representative. Modest wear shows within the...
1031The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$8,500.00
1909-O PCGS Genuine.
Behind the very rare 1929, 1909-O is the second key to the Indian gold half-eagle series. (Really, they are the only two keys.) PCGS has elected to encapsulate this example, indicating only that it...
1000The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$4,100.00
1909-O AU-58 Detail Cleaned.
This date is the key to the entire $5.00 Indian series. This example has AU-58 details and minimal marks. Its color is slightly off due to the fact that it has been lightly cleaned. This coin still...
491The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$10,000.00
1909-O NGC AU-55.
The New Orleans mintmark has a prominent delineation on this sought-after key date -- frequently it appears weakly punched. The handsome, yellow-gold surfaces display no obtrusive marks or blemishes...
492The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$10,500.00
1909-O AU-58.
This is a very difficult coin in any grade, and it is downright rare in this state of preservation. Well struck and with good color, it is just a touch of rub away from being worth more than a...
