(About The Images)
1853-O AU, 1855 VF, and 1859 AU. 1853-O AU, 1855 VF, and 1859 AU.
Lot Title: 1853-O AU, 1855 VF, and 1859 AU.
Description: Intact, this trio forms a complete type set of gold dollars, though some caveats must be noted. 1853-O is a very attractive AU that does display some minor obverse hairlines, but they are most likely incidental. 1855 is a handsome and choice, olive-grey very-fine example, again with some trivial obverse hairlines of incidental nature. Finally, 1859 is a slightly prooflike AU with evidence of a very minor cleaning on both sides, though the color has recovered just about completely. Three coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

898The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$775.00
1853-O NGC MS-62.
Glowing lemon-gold patina flashes from slightly reflective fields, put still permits flowline texture to race between the stars. Although lightly abraded as expected of MS-62, branch-mint collectors...
774The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$1,150.00
1853-O PCGS MS-62.
Details are very sharp for an "O" mint coin. While the Philadelphia dollar of 1853 has to be the most common gold dollar out there, the addition of New Orleans' mintmark leads to quite a different...
765The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,150.00
1853-O PCGS MS-62.
This coin has all of the eye appeal you could ever ask for in a $1 gold piece. Its color is very bright, the date and mintmark are super sharp, and it is lustrous. Plus, there are no distracting...
809The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$1,700.00
1853-O gold dollar, NGC MS-63
Although not a common date by comparison to other issues, the 1853-O is the most available of all New Orleans gold dollars. This is a lemon-yellow representative with an unusually bold strike and...
920The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$340.00
1853-O NGC AU-58.
Appearing to be Mint State. An opulent orange-gold glow radiates from this Type I Gold Dollar. Some scattered ticks are perceived with a strong glass, but they are not all that detracting. A quite...
980The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$1,000.00
1853-O NGC MS-62.
This is one of the nicer MS-62's you will see. There is a huge spread between MS-62 and MS-63, so I guess the graders were in a hurry the day this coin came through (just kidding NGC). It could...
