(About The Images)
1914 4/3 (FS-014.87). NGC MS-61. 1914 4/3 (FS-014.87). NGC MS-61.
Lot Title: 1914 4/3 (FS-014.87). NGC MS-61.
Description: A nice, early die-state ensures ready visibility of the overdate, and that is important since for many attributed 1914/3 nickels, it is virtually impossible to see the underlying crossbar of the "3". Overall strike definition is admittedly somewhat weak, but this may come as no surprise since, after all, old dies were re-used to strike these coins. Plenty of luster enhances the peach-gold aspect of the fields, ceding to areas of plush violet-blue color in various places. A handful of minor carbon spots are randomly scattered near the bottom of the Indian's portrait, and a few more are distributed near the bison's head. Pedigreed to the "Richmond Collection".
