Lot Title:
1886 PCGS PF-66 CAM.
Description:
Contrast between the fields gleaming, pristine fields and the sandy-textured devices is phenomenal, as usual for Philadelphia quarters of the 1880s. A faint, yellowish cast that is concentrated mainly on the rims represents the only hint of tone, though most collectors will view this as a pure white coin. As demanded of a VERY GEM grade, hairlines are essentially absent from both sides, with the grade determined by minor disturbances in the obverse right field, and a brief scratch above Liberty's head. Even with fifteen points of wear, it is apparent that this 1886 quarter was originally prooflike when struck. Longtime collectors of the series know that this is usually the case for quarters (and... |
