(About The Images)
1914-D NGC MS-64. 1914-D NGC MS-64.
Lot Title: 1914-D NGC MS-64.
Description: All the makings of a gem buffalo nickel would seem to come together in harmony for this 1914-D. Great luster fills both sides, draped in attractive pearly-tan tone, and exemplary detail was brought up by a terrific strike. Further inspection with a loupe is always recommended to look for any small marks that might affect the grade, and although such examination reveals practically no marks of consequence, it also shows that a number of carbon spots speckle the lower obverse and several more are loosely strewn across the reverse. These, in conjunction with a pair of slide marks across the bison's shoulder, likely conspire to limit the grade to MS-64. On balance, though, quality is highly compatible with a better uncirculated set.

577The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$1,325.00
1914-D PCGS MS-65 (green label).
157 graded MS-65, 45 higher at PCGS. Recognizable as a somewhat tougher issue at the gem level, 1914-D shows a modest PCGS population in higher grades that demands at least a 200% increase in cost! ...
362The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$320.00
1914-D PCGS AU-58.
Famous as a key to the Lincoln cent series, "1914-D" also has a reputation as a "tough out" for collectors assembling sets of buffalo nickels despite lack of cachet as a true "key date". Here is an...
389The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$775.00
1914-D AU, 1920-S MS-60/corroded, and 1925-S MS-60/obverse scratch.
A trio of better buffalo nickels, none of them certified. 1914-D has better than AU details, but a scrape on the Indian's cheek almost eludes detection, and brings the overall net grade to AU-50. ...
266The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$425.00
1914-D PCGS MS-63.
Glittering luster and a very attractive strike lead to "choice BU" assessment by PCGS. Surfaces glimmer with hints of apricot-gold patina, and close examination is useful for appreciating the fine...
364The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$950.00
1914-D, 1925-S and 1926-D Buffalo nickels, all certified.
Better certified buffalo nickels comprise this lot. The 1914-D is graded MS-62 by ANACS, providing an accurate reflection of the blunt central strike that is often seen on this issue. NGC has graded...
365The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$925.00
1914-D and 1914-S Buffalo nickels, PCGS MS-64.
1914-D and 1914-S buffalo nickels are each graded MS-64 by PCGS, but the similarity between these two ends there. The Denver coin is filled with fabulous, gleaming ice-blue and lavender-rose luster...
351The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$270.00
1914-D ICG AU-53.
Incandescent tones of violet, blue, and magenta can be observed on this super nice Buffalo Nickel. Only a bit of wear keeps this coin out of an Uncirculated holder.
352The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$310.00
1914-D NGC MS-62.
Shimmering tones adorn both the obverse and reverse of this well-struck Buffalo Nickel. Earlier nickels are becoming harder and harder to find in nice condition. This coin is housed a slightly older...
