Lot Title:
Two complete sets of Indian-head cents, and an additional partial set.
Description:
The first set in a newer Whitman album is, in a word... rough. The 1877 is a heavily damaged G-4. Other coins are low grade or damaged in most cases, and the 1909-S is absent. The second set in an older Whitman album is substantially nicer, with coins showing more details than would be seen in the first album. 1877 has F-12 but is severely corroded with rim damage, and 1909-S is a decent but lightly cleaned VF. Finally, a Dansco album with slipcover houses an incrementally better set. In this case, there are a few decent coins, 1877 grades AG/damaged, and 1909-S is PO-1/severely damaged.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
