Lot Title:

Complete set of Washington quarters 1932-1994-D, including proof-only issues, in a Dansco 8140 album.
|
Description:
|
Decidedly uneven quality is apparent in terms of grade range, since there are many BU coins (including some rather shocking surprises) mixed in with earlier coins grading as low as Fine. What makes this all the more intriguing is that the keys are very nice. The set is complete from 1932-D through 1994-D, and includes silver proofs, but no proofs for the last date of 1994. Highlights must be observed carefully, and include: 1932-D (MS-61, but looks easily MS-63 if not for vague hairlines curving across the portrait), 1932-S (MS-60), 1936-S (MS-64), 1937-S (MS-63), 1939-D (MS-64), 1940-D (MS-64 at least, possibly gem) and numerous gem coins that are dated 1941 and after. Upgrade of only about ten coins from circulated to BU grades would turn this already very nice set into an outstanding one.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
