(About The Images)
1923-S AU/dipped. 1923-S AU/dipped.
Lot Title: 1923-S AU/dipped.
Description: That this coin has been harshly dipped is most unfortunate, since details seem to have been right at the BU level. But, so extensive were past dips that "AU" must now be given as the details-only grade. Chalky white, there is very little luster remaining on either side. Evidence of past corrosion can be seen in the area of MER on the reverse, and may have been what enticed dipping way back when.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

695The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$760.00
1923-S ANACS AU-55.
In question is the original character of this very pale coin, but what is not debatable is its status as a semi-key in grades of AU and above. Suitably detailed for the grade.
514The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$400.00
1923-S PCGS XF-45.
Subtle hints of mint luster confirm the grade, though of course, this issue almost always displays slightly deficient detail in any grade due to strike issues. A pleasing and wholly original...
1144The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$475.00
1923-S XF-40.
Alluring light silvery surfaces sustain the appeal of this semi-key date. Softly struck in the central design element detailing, which is typical for this issue. A paltry number of ticks and some...
625The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$3,500.00
1923-S PCGS MS-63.
This is a monstrously tough coin to find in Uncirculated condition. This example has minimal marks, no toning, and zero distractions. It is well deserving of the assigned grade and will likely...
