Lot Title:
1852-C VF/cleaned.
Description:
Reflectivity flashes prominently from the date area and occasionally from around a few stars, but generally the obverse is somewhat dull, and the eagle's portrait displays a profusion of hairlines that instill it with odd luster. An original mintage exceeding 72-thousand pieces makes the 1852-C one of the more available issues from the Charlotte mint, but pieces with details at or above the XF level are not common, and this one would have graded XF-45 had the reverse not been cleaned.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
