Lot Title:
1942-D MS-65.
Description:
Marvelous, opulent and thick, the platinum-brown patina on the obverse is reminiscent of that seen on mint-set coins, while the reverse is less so toned, but features a brief arc of darker tone near the bottom border. Reasonably well defined, Liberty's center hand actually displays some finger separation. Motivating the gem assessment is a bottomless supply of vibrant luster.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

This is a tough variety. There are very few over mint marks in all of numismatics, and only one in the Walking Liberty Half Dollar series. The S shows much better than most overmintmarks. The... |
