(About The Images)
1909-S PCGS MS-62. 1909-S PCGS MS-62.
Lot Title: 1909-S PCGS MS-62.
Description: 1909-S commands a significant premium at MS-62, as is often the case for San Francisco Indian eagles. At arm's length, this one looks nicer than the assigned grade, and magnification is required to notice wispy hairlines on the cheek -- evidence of slidemarks. Very minor grease marks are visible at the top of the war bonnet, and faint variation in color near the left rim indicate trivial copper spots. The mintmark is nicely repunched to the right.
Low Estimate: $2,300.00
High Estimate: $2,500.00
Lot Status: Bidding has been closed for this lot.
Hammered Price: $3,000.00

In any grade, 1909-S does not fall within the realm of the most common dates of the series and commands a premium at all levels. MS-61 proves to be an economical level, but the value rises...
