Five sets of Jefferson nickels, including proof-only issues, 1938 through 2008-S. Five sets of Jefferson nickels, including proof-only issues, 1938 through 2008-S.
Lot Title: Five sets of Jefferson nickels, including proof-only issues, 1938 through 2008-S.
Description: Among the largest, most massive assemblages of coins ever to enter the cozy confines of Scotsman World Headquarters is this huge pile of Jefferson nickels, comprised of five (count 'em, FIVE) complete sets, four sets in albums, and the fifth set practically loose as a goose in mylar pages. The first set consists of AU/BU coins in a Dansco album, with many taking on slender album toning around the rims. The second set, also in a Dansco, is probably a small step up from the first, with a few more BU representatives overall, and plenty of finely toned coins. The third set, also in a Dansco, is again very similar, though perhaps with less prevalent toning than its companions. The fourth set, housed in two Littleton albums, easily bests the quality of the others, as it appears to be populated only with BU coins, including heavy emphasis on obvious GEM pieces. And then there is the fifth "loose" set, comprised mostly of BU coins, but with some oddball XF and AU representatives lightly sprinkled in. You might have to be a crazy nickel maniac or a hoarder extraordinaire to want to bid high on this mother lode of coins, but then again, those are precisely the types of personalities Scotsman looks for in their auctions.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
