An intriguing set of Jefferson nickels is complete (1938 - 2009-S) in a Harco album, and fortunately, these coins are much more resistant to PVC damage than those struck in more reactive metals. This appears to be a collection of BU coins only, though a slider or two may have found their way between the pages. 1939-D, 1939-S, 1950-D, and all the silver war nickels should easily make the MS-63 grade or better. Perhaps more important is the way latter coins (post-1963) have begun to tone, particularly the proofs. A number of pieces display the distinctive pastel sky-blue toning that is associated with Harco albums. Cataloger's note: This evaluation is based on viewing the coins "through the plastic", and potential bidders are advised that surface issues may have been hidden by the associated holder. Further, Harco albums have been known to cause PVC contamination.
