Lot Title:
An 1834 Bust quarter and 11 Seated quarters.
Description:
Proving that coins really were cleaned on occasion long ago, this selection of quarters consists of mostly fully original coins, with a couple of exceptions as noted. It's most likely that the exceptions are evidence of mere "incidental cleaning", rather than numismatic cleaning. Aside from that, these are marvelously appealing original pieces, with fully formed, dense grey patina and excellent eye-appeal. A single bust quarter is included with Seated Liberty quarters dated 1844 through 1891. All are cataloged as follows: 1834 B-1 "O/F" (F), 1844-O (XF/cleaned), 1853 (XF), 1854 (XF), 1856 (XF/cleaned), 1857 (XF), 1858 (XF), 1859 (AU and most certainly prooflike when struck), 1873-S (F), 1876-S (VF), 1876-CC (VF), and 1891 (XF/surface damage). An entertaining selection from the Tabasco Sauce collection. Twelve coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
