Lot Title:
Group of mostly later-date Mercury dimes in a Dansco 7123 album.
Description:
Although the traditional "short set" of Mercury dimes includes coins from 1941 through 1945-S, some collectors choose to extend that collection by working backward from 1940. This consignor succeeded in making it back to 1939, and added in a few earlier coins for good measure, perhaps with optimistic goals at one time. At any rate, this album includes coins dated 1916, 1916-S, 1923, 1934, 1937, 1938, and 1939 through 1945-S plus a 1945-S "micro S". Grades are mostly in the lower BU range, although a few coins are only AU, and a handful of pieces, mostly earlier, appear to be curiously artificially toned.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
