Lot Title:

Complete set of Lincoln cents 1909 through 2009-S in two Dansco Albums numbered 7103 and 8102.
|
Description:
|
Lincoln cents completely fill up these two Dansco albums, and provide a full, hefty set dated from 1909 - 2009, one-hundred and one years of this humble denomination. Keys and better-date coins are listed as follows: 1909-S VDB (VF with an obverse hairline scratch), 1909-S (VG/cleaned), 1911-S (F), 1912-S (F), 1913-S (VF), 1914-D (F), 1914-S (VF), 1922 "weak D" die-pair 1 (VF), 1924-D (VF), and 1931-S (VF) (there are no doubled-die cents). A number of coins in the teens and twenties are significant upgrades over what is usually seen, with many VF and XF pieces shown. For example, 1917-D, 1917-S, 1920-D, 1920-S, 1921-S, 1923-S, 1925-S (XF), 1926-S (XF), 1928-S, 1929-D, and 1929-S to name a few are in the VF - XF grade range. There are a few oddities as well, including cleaned representatives for 1916-D, 1919-PDS (!), 1924, and 1944-S, and perhaps a couple of others, but by and large, these are nice, original pieces. 1928 is the earliest BU coin, but there are strangely very few UNC coins in the 1940s and 1950s. All Memorial cents are generally MS-RD.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
