(About The Images)
1843 AU/polished. 1843 AU/polished.
Lot Title: 1843 AU/polished.
Description: Terrific detail easily meets standards for the AU level, and even though the coin has been lightly polished, that process contributed very little additional wear. Some semi-prooflike character no doubt was imparted at the time the coin was struck, but has been slightly exaggerated because of the altered surface.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Low Estimate: $400.00
High Estimate: $500.00

639The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$650.00
1843 AU details/glue residue.
Lustrous and probably lightly wiped at some time, each side faces up whiter than should be possible for silver struck in 1843. Fortunately, the surfaces have not been harshly treated and should...
546The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$700.00
1843 XF.
Attractive with exemplary vintage surfaces and terrific detail. Lovely lavender and magenta-orange patina reveals significant portions of the original luster protected within peripheral devices on...
838The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$340.00
1843 VF/lightly cleaned.
Not nearly as unattractive as a "cleaned" disclaimer might indicate, since the surfaces have retoned somewhat to a respectable appearanceh. This coin was probably somewhat prooflike at the time of...
839The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$900.00
1843 PCGS AU-53.
Plenty of mint luster remains at the edge of both sides, despite very white surfaces that hint at a past dip. As a type coin, any seated dollar is expensive in mint state grades, so nicer AU coins...
711The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$875.00
1843 PCGS AU-53.
Inordinately bright surfaces hint at a past dip, but not to the detriment of this Seated Liberty dollar, as plenty of mint luster remains at the edge of both sides. 1843 is by no means a scarce date...
550The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$650.00
1843 AU.
Brief circulation is mostly to blame for slight loss of detail on the highpoints, though the strike was never actually full to begin with. Most 1843 dollars lack luster, having been struck with...
621The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$925.00
1843 and 1860-O Seated Liberty silver dollars
A pair of nicely detailed Seated Liberty dollars comprise this lot. The 1843 possesses strong semi-prooflike character - nearly fully "PL" - and displays watery reflectivity in protected areas. It...
622The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$775.00
1843 Seated Liberty dollar, NGC AU-55
Fairly irregular splashes of mellow-gold and tan patinate each side, but protected areas do bear the impression of brighter mint luster. Considering this coin's physical size, it is remarkable that...
674The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$575.00
1843 AU-50.
Pastel-lavender color rests gently atop slightly reflective fields and helps diminish the effect of a couple of field blemishes that show up under a glass. the reverse adds a touch of khaki-tan color...
651The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$360.00
1843 PCGS VF-25.
This is a fresh, original coin that is housed in an old green label PCGS holder. It is a solid VF coin with hints of original mint luster lurking around the devices. There are minimal marks and no...
699The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$725.00
1843 NGC AU-55.
The numerals "1" and "4" are slightly repunched on this handsomely toned specimen. Copiously cloaked in a natural mauve, there's a moderate amount of original luster remaining amongst the...
738The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$370.00
1843 XF-45.
Enhancing pewter hues, becoming deeper at the peripheries, are augmented with an intermixing of deep gold and light blues. Void of any rim bruises, but there is one minuscule curved rim groove on the...
739The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$825.00
1843 AU-58.
This specimen is from a production of 165,100 pieces. The surfaces are somewhat reflective and radiate an exquisite golden aspect with some light blue hues strewn among the legends and devices. ...
