Lot Title:
1893-O AU/lightly cleaned.
Description:
Unlike with Morgan dollars of the same date, 1893-O is not a key to the half-dollar series, but it is still unfortunate that this example has been cleaned, harshly so on the reverse. Details are at the AU level despite a modestly weak strike. Scrutiny of both sides will reveal evidence of a strong die clash.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Every bit of MS-65 on the reverse, that side shows only a mere touch of steel-grey patina, while some rather mottled crimson-gold and greyish color has taken hold of the obverse. Precisely struck and... |
